It was the brainchild of Professors Lou Pozantides and Lisa Marsherall. The 10th Annual Media Awards Ceremony will take place at the Events Center on Monday, March 23rd with a  wonderful lunch and awards to honor members in our community who are in the media, law enforcement, medicine and politics. This year we are also honoring two Medaille employees who have dedicated themselves to educating students in research methods in the library as well as 4 recent alumni working in the field having contributed outstanding communication skills in their area of expertise  According to Professor Pozantides, “this program has proven to be successful in all  areas mentioned in regard to internship opportunities.” Students have taken part in all facets of communication from television and radio to social media and web design. Our senior graduating class will present the awards on that day.  A few of the winners include, WKBW-TV, WGRZ-TV. WIVB-TV, WBBZ-TV,  103.3. THE EDGE, The Food Bank of WNY, The Buffalo Police, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Roswell Park Cancer Institute and The Buffalo Common Council. Both faculty and students hope this program will continue for a long time as it has been a major part of celebrating the idea of newtorking and mentoring. Mayor Byron Brown, a huge supporter of the event will be on hand. As the saying says, “it’s not only what you know but who you know as well.” How true of a statement!! A lot goes into this event and thank you to all who have continued to make it successful for the past 10 years!!
