The 2018 Summer Scholars program is almost here. Our six-week program begins July 9 and concludes on August 16 with the third-annual Awards Ceremony. We currently have 28 first-year students enrolled to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities, designed to help some of our newest Medaille College freshmen “Hit the Ground Running!” Our intensive six-week program includes math, reading, writing and college readiness workshops. First-year students will get a head start on the fall semester by earning three credits tuition-free. This year, students will be taking PSY 100 Introduction to Psychology or SPE 130 Fundamental s of Public Speaking. Many students will be earning while they learn with a stipend through the Buffalo Mayor’s Summer Youth Internship Program or up to $500 in Medaille College Bookstore vouchers. Please welcome our newest students to campus in the weeks to come. Nationally, summer bridge programs, like Summer Scholars, are highly regarded for their ability to help first-year students make the transition from high school to college, and contribute to higher first-year GPA, better retention rates, and faster degree completion rates than similar students not participating in a summer bridge program.
