Karen Shaddock, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, has joined the athletic department as Interim Assistant Athletic Director- SID & Compliance for the 2013-2014 year.
Karen came to Medaille in 2012 and took over the women’s lacrosse coach. In her first year, she led the team to an 11-5 season, the most winning record in the history of Medaille lacrosse, and their first trip to the NEAC Championships. Under Karen’s coaching, the team was also the second team to receive a bid to the ECAC tournament for the post season. She has also coached a senior graduate on the American International Sports Team tour in the Netherlands where their team won the championship and remained undefeated.
Karen joined us as a 2012 graduate from SUNY Buffalo State where her athletic career proves very impressive. Her career records include 262 goals and 457 points, including a single season record of 108 goals and 150 points. She also holds the team record for most goals, assists, points, and draw controls in a game, and the NCAA records for leader in points for a single season, leader in goals for a single season, and 2nd all-time career points. Karen was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year and Women’s Lacrosse All-American in 2009, and SUNYAC Player of the Year in 2010. She was also All-SUNYAC player 2009-2012 and Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Associations/Synapse Sports All American in 2012.
Karen’s history working with Buffalo State’s SID staff has provided her with an irreplaceable wealth of knowledge. Karen has kept statistics for varsity sports events and reported results to local news. Through Sidearm programs, Karen has conducted interviews and authored articles for the Buffalo State Athletics website on Buffalo State student-athletes. She has also assisted with NCAA compliance team meetings and the tracking student-athletes’ eligibility.
