At the College’s 2014 Founders’ Day Celebration, Dr. Craig Centrie, associate professor in Medaille’s School of Education, will be recognized as the faculty recipient of the Fr. Medaille Award for Service and Citizenship.

Dr. Centrie continually demonstrates his commitment to civil rights and social justice, and he has lectured widely in Europe, Latin America, and Asia on education, art, and human rights. He received the Hoyt Visionary Leadership Award in 2012 for his work to bring equality to LGBT people of the State of New York.

Most recently, he established and obtained grant funding from the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo for a program entitled “Educating Beyond the Borders of School,” which provides a multi-cultural, fine-arts experience to low-income Riverside High School students, many of whom arrived in the United States as refugees.

WNY United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse, Gayle Eagan ’66 (alumni award) and Patrick Brown ’15 (student recipient) will also be recognized at the Founders’ Day Celebration on Wed., April 9 from 6-8 p.m. on the stage of Shea’s Performing Arts Center.
