In June, Alice Villaseñor, Ph.D., participated in the “Activism and Empathy” Children’s Literature Association Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her presentation — “A Children’s Literature Service-Learning Project: Developing Students’ Empathy” — outlined her experiences teaching children’s literature courses in partnership with the Buffalo City Mission’s Literacy and Enrichment After-School Program (LEAP) Program.
Dr. Villaseñor is pictured visiting the library at the home of children’s book author Gene Stratton-Porter in Rome City, Indiana.
