The most recent edition of JASNA News, the Newsletter of the Jane Austen Society of North America, features a travel article written by Associate Professor of English Dr. Alice Villaseñor. Dr. Villaseñor wrote about her recent trip to England to participate in events related to the bicentenary of Jane Austen’s death.

Dr. Villaseñor describes the many ways in which Hampshire celebrated the life and work of one of the county’s most celebrated authors. She discusses presenting at a conference organized by the Chawton House Library for British Women Writers. She also considers museum exhibitions, public art pieces, and two special events at Winchester Cathedral (where Jane Austen is buried): the Bank of England’s unveiling of the Austen £10 banknote and the Choral Evensong celebrating Jane Austen’s life.

A copy of the article has been posted on the Faculty Bulletin Board located on the second floor of Main. Dr. Villaseñor is also happy to provide copies of the article to anybody who requests it.
