On Thursday, April 8, the Education Graduate Student Society (EGSS) hosted a virtual webinar centered around building engaging classrooms for refugee students. Alison Witt, currently working with the International Association for Refugees Canada (IAFR), presented information to prospective and current teachers. The evening consisted of an interactive presentation that presented strategies for teaching refugee students, fostered critical dialog regarding the refugee experience, and stimulated discussion around the refugee process, growing student demographic populations and cultural awareness. A recording of this event can be made available for anyone who was unable to attend by contacting the EGSS Faculty Advisor, Dr. Caitlin Riegel.
