On Tuesday, May 4, the Education Graduate Student Society (EGSS) hosted a workshop designed to prepare educators to use Google Classroom to meet the virtual demands of pandemic and post-pandemic 21st century teaching. Google Certified Innovator, Kim Pollishuke, went through a step-by-step of all of the Google Classroom Basics, discussing how to easily add students and co-teachers, communicate with students in the Stream, create and manage a variety of assignments, and use the assessment features. She also discussed how to use Google Classroom to help families stay informed about their child’s ongoing schoolwork. Participants developed their own Google Classroom in the 90-minute workshop. Participants included current student and alumni working in the field, as well as Department of Education full-time and part-time faculty members. A recording of this event can be made available for anyone who was unable to attend by contacting the EGSS Faculty Advisor, Dr. Caitlin Riegel.
