It was a busy week for your Mavericks and Lady Mavericks. Check out the recaps below to see how all the Fall and Winter teams did last week!

Weekly Recap:

Women’s Volleyball: The Lady Mavericks Volleyball team went (2-0) last week to win the AMCC Regular Season Championship, and right to host the AMCC Tournament.  They started the week with a thrilling (3-2; 14-25, 25-21, 32-34, 25-16, 15-10) victory at Pitt-Bradford on October 28th. The ladies then came home for Senior Day, on Halloween to take on Penn State-Altoona. The winner of that match was guaranteed the regular season crown, and the Lady Mavs left no doubt as to who would earn that distinction. Medaille came away with a convincing (3-1; 25-16, 20-25, 25-15, 25-19) win after celebrating the careers of seniors Abby Depczynski, Susan Muldoon, Jenna Cleversley, and Simmone Talford. On Monday, Cleversley was also named the AMCC Player of the Week, making her the third Lady Maverick to earn the award this season. The semifinal round of the AMCC Tournament will take place in the Sullivan Center on Saturday, November 7th at 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm. The AMCC Championship game will happen the following day, Sunday, November 8th, at 2:00 pm. Your Lady Mavs will take on the winner of Wednesday’s first round match, pitting the Redhawks of  La Roche against the Lions of Penn State-Behrend, on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

Men’s Soccer: The Mavericks Men’s Soccer team traveled to Penn State-Altoona on Saturday, October 31st for their AMCC First Round matchup. After a hard fought season, Medaille was bested by the Lions (2-0) to end their season. The Mavericks finished their season with a (11-6-2) overall record, and (5-2-2) record in AMCC play.

Men’s Cross Country and Women’s Cross Country: Both the men and women competed in the AMCC Championships on Saturday, October 31st in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Lady Mavericks were paced by sophomore Jessica Maguder, who finished 20th with a time of (27:31.3). Senior Christina Volpini finished in 22nd place with a time of (27:48.9). The ladies finished fifth in the Championship meet for the second time in three years. The Men were led by sophomore Ali Rexhepi, who crossed the finish line with a time of (34:34.5), good enough or 35th place. The Men finished in 8th place.

Women’s Bowling: The Lady Mavericks went (3-1) this past week, splitting (1-1) with Daemen College on Thursday, October 29th, and sweeping (2-0) Thiel College on Tuesday, November 3rd. Medaille dropped the traditional match against the Wildcats; however, they picked up the win in the baker match to improve their record against Daemen this season to (2-1). They followed up that performance with a dominant showing against Thiel, defeating them by (186) pins in traditional play, and by (91) pins in baker play. Leading the way for Medaille was senior Tallie Papke, who threw a (193) average against Thiel earning her AMCC Player of the Week honors. It is the second week in a row that a Lady Maverick has won that award.
