It was a busy week in athletics, with all seven teams seeing action this past week. There were a number of highlights, including the Medaille Athletes of the Week; sophomore Adam Kroll (Men’s Golf) and freshman Colleen Voigt (Women’s Tennis).

Kroll finished 13th at the Keuka Fall Invitational on Wednesday, September 16 with a team low score of (83, +11). He continued his strong play On Monday, September 21, finishing with a score of (87, +15).

Voigt went (2-1) in singles matches this week, including a dominating (6-0, 6-1) victory over Nicole Giliforte of D’Youville College. Her singles win against D’Youville was the first of her collegiate career.

Weekly Recap:

Women’s Volleyball: The Lady Mavericks went (3-1) last week, including an impressive (2-1) at the R.I.T. Invitational last weekend. Senior Susan Muldoon had an outstanding week, leading the team with (57) kills, and being named to the R.I.T. Invitational All-Tournament team. Fellow senior Simmone Talford added (128) assists, giving her (3,047) for her career.

Men’s Soccer: Went (1-2) last week, defeating Alfred State (4-0) on the road. Freshman Nick DuMond scored the first two goals of his career last week, his first coming in the (4-0) win over Alfred State. Junior striker Junior Geegba also tallied a goal and assist this week, improving his season totals to (6) goals and (2) assists.

Women’s Soccer: The Lady Mavs went (0-2) last week, dropping games to Alfred State and Brockport. Senior Alea Wade made a combined (27) saves in the two games, playing all (90) minutes in both contests.

Men’s Cross Country: Finished (15th) at the Behrend Invitational on Saturday, September 19th. The race was an AMCC Championship preview, as the conference championship race will take place at Penn State-Behrend on October 31st. Sophomore James Medley paced the Mavs with a time of (34:22.9).

Women’s Cross Country: Finished (11th) out of (17) at the Behrend Invitational. Senior Christina Volpini earned (61st) place in the field of (130), crossing the finish line in a time of (23:23.9). Sophomore Jessica Maguder wasn’t far behind, finishing with a time of (23:43.2).

Men’s Golf: The Mavs finished sixth in the Keuka Invitational last Wednesday, and followed that with a seventh place finish Monday afternoon at the James Bown Invitational. Sophomore Adam Kroll shot a team low (83, +11) at Keuka, while senior Austin Ford finished Monday with a team low (82, +10).

Women’s Tennis: The Lady Mavs went (2-1) last week, with two big conference wins over D’Youville and Mount Aloysius. A number of the women won multiple matches last week, including freshman Colleen Voigt. She won the first two singles matches of her collegiate career, including a dominating (6-0, 6-1) victory in the number four singles slot against D’Youville.
