The Education Graduate Student Society and the Medaille College Library celebrated the start of KidsLit Week with an author visit and social. On November 4, graduate and undergraduate students, along with Dr. Macur, faculty, staff and members of the local community, joined together to enjoy a meal and camaraderie before a presentation from Bridget Atlas-Callahan & Kristin Madej-Warham, authors of Buffalo A-Z: Come Take a Tour with Me. Callahan and Warham gave an inspiring presentation about their publishing journey from the idea to their finished book. They shared stories of their challenges and successes, the powerful community vibe and pride for Buffalo. Callahan and Warham’s community based alphabet book spotlights many of Buffalo’s treasures, from A-Z including Canalside, the History Museum, Veteran’s Walk and Buffalo’s very own Goo Goo Dolls.
KidsLit Week begins the week-long celebration leading up to the WNY Children’s Book Expo on Saturday, November 9 at the Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center. The Expo is FREE to the public. Doors are open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Come Celebrate the Power of Story and the 5th Anniversary of the Expo. Meet 40 authors and illustrators, listen to stories, partake in arts and crafts, read to therapy dogs and more. For more information, visit www.wnycbe.com.
