Now in its eighth year of supporting the creativity of middle and high school students, Medaille Summer Theatre (MST) will transition to an ONLINE PROGRAM in July 2020. The annual three-week program empowers young actors and writers (ages 12 to 17) to create and produce their own original, world-premiere comedies, dramas, and musicals… but this summer, they can have fun and collaborate with other young artists online, from the comfort and safety of their own homes. New and veteran students will devise, write, and develop live performances, produce videos (in the style of Tik Tok, Quibi, and recent episodes of “Saturday Night Live”), and even create scripted audio dramas and podcasts.  Students receive fun & inspirational prompts from world-class theatre educators Jon Elston and Bella Poynton, who then support development and production of an evening of entirely original student work. The MST final presentation will be streamed live and available for download at the end of July.

MST will run Monday through Friday, July 13 through July 31.  Children / family members of Medaille faculty, staff, students and alumni receive a $50 discount!

Respect for bright and courageous students is central to the MST mission. MST faculty provide a positive, informative, lively, and fun environment in which students learn and grow, as artists and people. Ambitious projects born in MST have won awards for their young authors and become impressive centerpieces of college applications! As students develop their creative work, they also forge lasting friendships with their peers. Ten veteran students – some of whom have participated in MST for seven years – are expected to return to MST20, including the children of several Medaille faculty and staff members. New friends are always welcome! Please visit https://www.medaille.edu/medaille-summer-theater-camp-online or contact Jon Elston at jbe35@medaille.edu for more information!
