Cheryl Potter, Math Specialist 

What is your education and background?

I earned my bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State in Secondary Math Education. I started working at Medaille in 1998 as a part-time math tutor and developmental math instructor.  I am now the Math Specialist and teach a variety of math courses each semester.

Tell us about your typical work day…

I teach three courses each semester.  When I am not teaching I tutor students throughout the day in the Academic Support Center.  I also help with the summer bridge program and the math portion of Learning 2 Learn.

What is your favorite part of working at Medaille?

I enjoy working with various faculty and staff through the Academic Support Center.  I also really like working with students, both in the classroom and during one-on-one tutoring appointments.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I enjoy being involved in my church, attending Buffalo Bandit lacrosse games (which I have season tickets to) and playing the flute.

If you could eat dinner with one famous person, who would it be?

Benjamin Franklin.  I admire his ability to think outside of the box, plan, invent, and look towards the future to improve society.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?

Two places that are on my bucket list are the Grand Canyon and Egypt.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you like to have with you?

Sudoku puzzle book, big box of chocolate and an umbrella (for shade).
