Alex Beebe, Research Project Specialist

What is your education and background?

I earned my AS degree in Liberal Arts at Monroe Community College.  I transferred to Medaille for the Psychology program and earned my BA in Psychology in May of 2015.  I was fortunate to be hired at Medaille as a Research Project Specialist in January of 2015.  Currently, I am pursuing my master’s degree in Psychology here at Medaille.

Tell us about your typical work day…

Each day consists of many reports, informational graphics, surveys and general data management for the college.  I often pull reports for Admissions and Enrollment and other offices as necessary.  I am responsible for working on many data reports, often numerous projects at the same time.

What is your favorite part of working at Medaille?

My favorite part of working at Medaille is the close community. I chose to attend Medaille for my education because of the small size, so working here has been an extension that I enjoy.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I have a big interest in my graduate program and research studies.  In my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar, video games and visiting state parks when time allows.  I also really like to cook.

If you could eat dinner with one famous person, who would it be?

Neil deGrasse Tyson.  He is a popular astrophysicist, who has advocated for space programs and NASA.  I think it would be very interesting to talk to him.

Are you a morning or a night person?

This is a good question.  I was a night person but Medaille has changed me and now I am 100% a morning person.

Please tell a success story while working here at Medaille (or favorite Medaille memory)

From arriving on campus for the first time and meeting with my advisor, Chris Lazzaro to working as a student in the Advisement Center, earning my degree and now I am working full time here I have had quite the journey at Medaille and I am proud.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you like to have with you?

Acoustic guitar, a really big towel and my favorite water bottle.
