Yasminda O’Hara, Class of 2016, Early Childhood/Childhood Education major

Why did you choose Medaille?

I chose Medaille because of the small classroom sizes.  I love that the professors actually know my name and I get the sense that they actually care whether or not you succeed.

What are some of the accomplishments while you have been a student at Medaille that you are most proud of?

I am most proud that I have maintained a gpa over 3.2 throughout the time I have been here.  I have also been selected for a scholarship that I received at the recent Honors Convocation.

How have faculty/staff helped played a role in helping you become successful?

The professors I have had so far have all played a role in helping be successful by being understanding.  I am not a traditional student at Medaille in that I am married and have 3 children.  There are times where I may be running late or one of my children were sick and my professors are very understanding.

If you could eat dinner with anyone, who would you choose?

If I could eat dinner with anyone, I think I would choose a comedian, like Eddie Murphy.  I love to laugh so I would want to eat with someone entertaining.

What three items would you want to have with you on a deserted island?

Three items that I would want to have with me on a deserted island are a book, a bottle of wine and my blanket.

What are your plans for the future?

My plan is to graduate from Medaille with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, go to graduate school, work as an elementary school teacher for a few years then become a school principal.
