Lindy Feider, M.S. Academic Advisor, Advisement Center
What is your education and background?
I attended Canisius College and dual majored in History and European Studies to earn my Bachelor’s degree. I continued at Canisius to earn my Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration. I knew I wanted to stay in Buffalo and I was lucky enough to be hired at Medaille after graduation in 2008.
Tell us about your typical work day… A typical work day for me as an Academic Advisement Counselor in the Advisement Center involves many different responsibilities. I interact with students one-on-one throughout the day discussing academic and career goals, such as choice of major, course schedules, and graduation plans. I assist them with any issues that may impact their academics and help educate students on college policies. I work with my co-workers on many different projects, such as the Attendance Initiative and faculty mentoring program for new students. I also supervise the Advisement Center work-study students.
What is your favorite part about working at Medaille? The people. I have been blessed with great co-workers who feel more like a second family and my students, who make my job rewarding.
What are your interests and hobbies? My hobbies are reading and photography and I really enjoy exercising. Most of all, as cliche’ as it sounds, I love spending time with my family and friends, whether it is something fun like traveling to NYC or simple as going out to dinner.
What is your favorite restaurant? This is a difficult one for me, as I love food and many different restaurants. If I had to pick just one, I would probably have to say Pearl Street Bar and Grill because I have always loved everything I order there.
If they made a movie about your life, which actor would play you and why? Reese Witherspoon, because she has always been one of my favorites. She seems down to earth and can be a good mix of serious and funny.
Describe yourself in 3 words… Enthusiastic, Dedicated, Friendly.
