Stephanie Appenheimer, Class of 2017
Why did you choose to attend Medaille?
I chose Medaille because I knew it was the right fit for me! I came from a small high school and Medaille was the perfect size. I really wanted that one on one experience and not be just a number. I also loved the fact that there were so many opportunities to get involved on campus outside of the classroom. I knew I would be able to succeed here. Plus the location is perfect… I love the city of Buffalo!
What are some of the accomplishments while you have been a student at Medaille that you are most proud of?
First thing first, I am so proud of maintaining my grade point average. Learning to balance my classwork and other obligations hasn’t been easy. Secondly, I am extremely proud of becoming the Student Government President as a junior. I have learned a lot from the experience and love being a part of the organization. Lastly, I am just proud of being involved and working on campus. I have met so many great people and created a family here at Medaille.
How have faculty/staff helped play a role in helping you become successful?
I would not be where I am today without the help and encouragement from the faculty and staff here at Medaille! Kayla Betacchini is so great at what she does. I admire her for all of the work she does as the Coordinator of Student Involvement and SGA advisor. She has such a positive outlook on life and inspires me to be the best I can be. Being able to work in the Academic Advisement Center has been a wonderful opportunity! I love working with all of the advisors and Ivey. It is such a positive environment and I always look forward to going to work! Also, the professors I have had here at Medaille have been great and have helped guide me throughout my college experience!
If you could eat dinner with anyone, who would you choose?
Jodi Picoult. She is one of my favorite authors, as she has written twenty-three novels, ten of which I have read. I have loved every book I have read by her. Whenever I am in need of a good book, I can always count on reading one of hers! I would love to ask her where she gets her inspiration and why she began writing.
What three items would you want to have with you on a deserted island?
First, I would bring my favorite blanket for comfort. If there is WIFI and a power source on this island, which I hope there is, I would bring my nook. I hate going anywhere without a book to read! And lastly, I would have to bring my nook charger because my nook would be useless without it.
What are your plans for the future?
Honestly, I am not too sure. Another part of the reason I chose Medaille is because I knew I would be able to figure out what I want to do after I graduate. I have never known the exact answer to what I want to be when I grow up. What I do know is that I want to help people and work within the city of Buffalo. Throughout my journey at Medaille, I have been working at answering this question.
