Buffalo Business First Highlights Medaille Partnership With BestSelf Behavioral Health
An article in Buffalo Business First on October 13 highlighted the two-year-old partnership between Medaille College and BestSelf Behavioral Health, Inc. (formerly Lake Shore Behavioral Health). The partnership has resulted in a health outpatient treatment center on the Buffalo campus that provides community services while also serving as a counselor-in-training facility for students in Medaille’s master’s in clinical mental health counseling, master’s in marriage and family therapy, and doctorate in clinical psychology programs.
As the article explains, it’s a “win-win for all involved.” Howard Hitzel, president and CEO of BestSelf, says supervised clinical work helps to develop high-quality job candidates: “Medaille has made a commitment to providing excellent training for students in the behavioral health field, and we were happy to partner with them because in the end, we are the beneficiaries.”
Lynn Horne-Moyer, Ph.D., chair of Medaille’s Department of Counseling & Clinical Psychology, says the state-of-the-art clinic ensures that “the clients, the sector and the students at Medaille all benefit.”
