Recently, Dr. Alice Villaseñor presented a paper at the Annual Meeting of the Northeast American Society of Eighteenth Century Studies, which met at the University of Rochester.

Her paper, “Catherine Hubback’s Emma Watson and the Horrors of the Governess Trade,” drew from her extensive archival research on a Victorian novelist who was one of Jane Austen’s nieces. Hubback published the earliest known completion of “The Watsons,” one of two novels that Jane Austen left unfinished.
