Dr. Alice Villaseñor to Speak at Genesee Country Village’s “A Novel Weekend” (August 7-8)
Associate Professor of English Dr. Alice Villaseñor will speak about “The Business of Marriage in Jane Austen’s England” on both Saturday (August 7) and Sunday (August 8) at Genesee Country Village. “A Novel Weekend” celebrates nineteenth-century novels enjoyed by readers of all ages, including Jane Austen’s Emma, Eric Sloane’s Diary of an Early American Boy, and Larissa Theule’s Born to Ride: A Story about Bicycle Face. Dr. Villaseñor’s illustrated talk will explain the economic and social structures of Regency England that frame the marriage plot of Jane Austen’s Emma.
