Dr. Alice Villaseñor’s essay, “Austen Masala: Bride and Prejudice as Transcultural Adaptation,” co-authored with Ruth Blandón of East Los Angeles College, was recently published in a book of essays celebrating the 200th anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (Pride and Prejudice: A Bicentennial Bricolage, Forum University Press). The essay explores the reception of Gurinda Chadha’s Bride and Prejudice (2004) in comparison to other Bollywood adaptations of Austen’s novels.
