On March 9, 2023, Department of Business, Management & Leadership Chair Dr. Michael P. Lillis presented a research paper at the Academic and Business Research Institute Conference in San Antonio, Texas. His study examined the relationship between certain perceiver, task, and situational characteristics and their effect on individual problem-recognition performance. The paradigm used to study these effects involved a real-world simulation of a radar approach control facility. Specific hypotheses explored how problem recognition processes were shaped by the psychophysical aspects and mental processes underlying the foundations of problem recognition. Dr. Lillis discussed the theoretical significance of his findings, as well as the implications for effective organizational decision-making.
