Dr. Riegel Presents at Association of Teacher Educators Conference
On Tuesday February 15, Department of Education Assistant Professor Dr. Caitlin Riegel presented at the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) Conference. Her presentation, titled “Reimagining Educational Research Courses to Prepare Antifragile Teachers,” focused on the need for educational research courses to be better utilized in Educator Preparation Programs to equip future educators to anticipate and navigate world challenges that present dramatic changes within the educational system.
Dr. Riegel’s presentation provided participants an opportunity to reflect on educational research courses and reimagine their utility for preparing antifragile teachers. Dr. Riegel addressed the need for antifragile teachers, potential revisions to educational research courses, and the way Medaille College has re-evaluated this course to be better utilized to prepare educators to teach in an uncertain world. The presentation concluded by having participants discuss critical questions regarding how Educator Preparation Programs can better prepare antifragile teachers holistically. The relevance of this presentation for education faculty is vital for developing future educators who can succeed in an everchanging field.
