The First-Year Experience Program and Power of You Leadership Certificate Program would like to acknowledge and congratulate this year’s Certificate of Achievement awardees.

Awardees were required to participate in at least five of the eight Power of You Leadership sessions, and the closing ceremony was held on November 12.

The Power of You Leadership Certificate program, facilitated by Tamara McMillan, provides first-year scholars with the tools, services and learning communities they need to make a successful transition into the collegiate environment. Research indicates it takes a “new” student 6-8 weeks to become acclimated to a new environment. The Power of You series provides first-year students with experiential learning opportunities, community building and leadership opportunities that are interchangeable and support engagement and retention models.

Dr. Ramsey, FYE Program Director, would like to thank all of the scholars who participated this year. Thanks also to the peer mentor team, including Stanley Simpson, Aliyah Dandy and James Misercola. Also, thanks to all of the faculty and staff who encouraged their own student scholars to participate in the series.
