On Monday, April 2, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lori V. Quigley joined first and second-year students for the First-Year Experience Speaker Series “Getting to Second Base: Reflections on the First-Year Experience and the Transition to the Second-Year Experience.” Dr. Quigley reminded students, there are only four weeks of classes remaining in the spring term. In addition, she encouraged students to not only rely on friends for support and guidance, but to provide friends with the same.

Dr. Quigley shared some of her own first-year experiences, and also urged students to seek help in the Student Success Center, which includes Career Planning, the TRiO Program, Accessibility Services, the Advisement Center, and the Academic Support Center. Finally, as students prepare for their second year, Dr. Quigley told the students how to avoid a sophomore slump by setting more and newer goals. She said college sophomores with goals succeed because they know where they are going. A free lunch was served and a $50 Visa Gift Card was raffled. FYE would like to thank Professors Alan Bigelow and Lucy Czesak for their support of this FYE Speaker Series event.
