Department of Education Assistant Professor Dr. Casey Jakubowski presented on “Creating a Civic Classroom” at the First Annual Teacher Goals conference.

Dr. Jakubowski’s presentation explores how a civic classroom is different than a civil classroom. Starting with allowing stakeholders to fully participate in a civic classroom, the educators build a student-focused class, and create a growth of positive and creative engagement with traditionally undervalued voices.  A civil classroom is more compliance oriented.

Dr. Jakubowski will  be expanding on these concepts in a forthcoming book from Edumatch publishing, his third.
