Medaille College announced today that its premier fundraising event of the year, The Founders’ Day Celebration, will feature Dottie Gallagher-Cohen, president and CEO of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, as keynote speaker. This year’s event, sponsored by Phillips Lytle, LLP, is themed “Spotlight on Buffalo’s Past, Present and Future” and will be held on April 9 at Shea’s Performing Arts Center, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Founders’ Day provides an opportunity for Medaille to honor those who make a positive difference in Western New York, while also raising vital funds that support student scholarships. Last year, funds raised at Founders’ Day provided over $48,000 in scholarship funds that were awarded to over thirty Medaille students.

The Founders’ Day Celebration also serves as an opportunity for Medaille to honor those who, like the 46-year old college, make a positive difference in the Buffalo Niagara region through service, dedication and an on-going commitment in the community.

This year’s honorees include:

•Alumni of the Year – Gayle Eagan ’66, attorney at Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP

•Student of the Year – Patrick Brown ’15

•Non-profit Organization – WNY United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse

•Faculty/Staff – Craig Centrie, Ph.D., associate professor, School of Education

Eileen Buckley ’85, assistant news director of WBFO, will serve as emcee for the evening.

To underscore the event’s theme special “appearances” from characters associated with Buffalo’s past will add to the evening’s excitement.  Entertainment will be supplied by local musicians George Caldwell and Bobby Militello.
