Dr. Macur was  joined by Howard K. Hitzel, Psy.D, president of Lake Shore Behavioral Health to officially open the Medaille Family Counseling Center in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Center, 95 W. Humoldt.  This unique collaboration between Lake Shore Behavioral Health and Medaille College resulted in the creation of The Medaille Family Counseling Center, a fully licensed Lake Shore mental health outpatient treatment location which also serves as a counselor in training facility for students enrolled in three of Medaille College’s graduate programs including the Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Doctorate in Psychology.

The Medaille Family Counseling Center offers families and individuals evidenced-based mental health therapy as well as the opportunity to participate in enhanced treatment through the counselor in training program conducted under the direct supervision of highly experienced and fully licensed Lake Shore staff.

“Thanks to our partnership with Lake Shore Behavioral Health, today we celebrate the opening of the Medaille Family Counseling Center,” stated Dr. Macur.  “This state-of-the-art facility affords graduate level students in our mental health programs an in-depth, first-hand learning experience that is unparalleled in this community.  More importantly, it allows us to truly enrich the educational experience of our students and ultimately, to provide the most highly trained counselors for the western New York community.”



Dr, Keith Klostermann spoke about the importance of the program for Medaille students and Michelle Wolf, a student in the Marriage and Family Counseling Program spoke about how this new state-of-the-art facility will help Medaille students through enhance educational opportunities.
