Medaille Professors Collaborate on Article Exploring the Impacts of Financial Stress on Mental Health
An article written by two Medaille professors was recently published in the Journal of Psychology & Clinical Psychiatry. Titled “Treating the Whole Problem: Why Therapists Need to Consider the Impacts of Financial Stress on Patients’ Mental Health,” this interdisciplinary collaboration was authored by Medaille clinical associate professor Susan C. Steffan, chair of the College’s Department of Business, Management & Leadership, and by internationally recognized behavioral couples therapy (BCT) expert Keith Klostermann, Ph.D., LMFT, LMHC, an assistant professor in Medaille’s master’s in marriage and family therapy program.
In the article, Steffan and Dr. Klostermann explored how and why financial issues can be both a cause and an effect of mental health disorders.
