Colleagues:

Now that we are essentially at the mid-point of the spring 2015 semester for the traditional undergraduate student population,  please be sure to issue academic warnings to all traditional undergraduates performing at a C- or below level in your classes. 

We have found over the years that these mid-term warnings often serve as a positive and necessary progress report and reality check for students. 

Warnings issued now also give struggling students time to seek out the help of institutional resources to improve their performance.

I also encourage any faculty members issuing academic warnings to follow-up themselves with their students to offer support and guidance.  Many students will respond affirmatively to your expression of concern and care for their success.
