On July 12, Director of Online Learning Mary Beth Scumaci and Digital Learning Technologist Julianna Woite presented a session titled, “Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Learn: Using Humor and Pop Culture to Keep Students Engaged in Online Learning.” The presentation took place at the Anthology Together 2022 Global Conference in Orlando, Florida. The duo presented to a full house, offering creative strategies and ideas for integrating pop culture and humor in the online classroom. Scumaci and Woite included research on humor in education, as well as how to connect with Gen Z students in ways that make them feel both inspired and at ease. Participants were actively engaged in the presentation, sharing experiences and additional ideas for success.
