Melissa Harris, Director of Marketing
What is your education and background?
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College. Through the years, I lived in different cities around the country, including New York City, Atlanta, and Albuquerque. Before I came to Medaille, I worked at Leisure Living as their digital marketing manager. I started at Medaille in August of 2014.
Tell us about your typical work day…
I attend a lot of meetings discussing different branding and strategies. Many of the meetings are with clients, such as the Undergraduate Admissions team, discussing the creative methods to market Medaille and analyzing what are the best ways to deliver the message to our target, whether it be radio, print, etc.
What is your favorite part of working at Medaille?
The people! No question about it. Everyone I have met has been very nice and welcoming to not only myself but the position. Everyone I have interacted with has a passion for what my office does and wants to help to get our message out.
What are your interests and hobbies?
My main hobby is that I am a stand-up comedian. When I lived in New York City and Atlanta, I performed regularly. Since moving back to Buffalo, I have performed sporadically, including this past summer at the Buffalo’s Funniest Person contest where I placed in the Top 8, out of 72 contestants.
If you could eat dinner with one famous person, who would it be?
Tina Fey – not only for her comedy but also her take on current events and issues.
Please tell a success story while working here at Medaille (or favorite Medaille memory or story)
I’m proud of the team I work with. Everyone understands the goals of our office and is 110% committed to our department and Medaille.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
Great Britain. I would love to meet up with friends who live there and it would be nice to meet their families. One of my friends had a baby and named her son, Harris, so I would love to meet the child named after me.
Describe yourself in 3 words…
Perfect. Humble. Sarcastic.
