Emma Papagni, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Why did you choose Medaille?
I choose Medaille for several reasons. The first being my programs flexible schedule with the weekend set up. I am able to work and go to school, which is hard to do with most graduate programs. The staff at Medaille are welcoming, informative and helpful. They were there for me every step of the way when I applied to the program. They were willing to hear out any concerns I had and made every effort to help accommodate my needs.
What are some of the accomplishments while you have been a student at Medaille that you are most proud of?
I am very honored that Dr. Keith Klostermann has nominated me for this. While at Medaille I was given the opportunity to work as a research assistant where I have written and edited several papers that are currently submitted for publication. This opportunity has expanded my knowledge in my field and improved my writing skills.
How have faculty/staff helped play a role in helping you become successful?
The faculty at Medaille are not only understanding, but knowledgeable in their field. They have real life experiences to share with their students and are willing to help in any way possible for our success. Michele Bauman helped me immensely with finding my internship and was there to answer any questions I had. Many of the faculty members are from the Western New York area and have relationships out in the community for students who may want to gain volunteer experience, are looking for an internship or even a job after completing their program.
If you could eat dinner with anyone, who would you choose?
If I could eat dinner with anyone it would be Elizabeth I. She was someone strong and independent who was successful in a time where women were not given any opportunities.
What three items would you want to have with you on a deserted island?
My cat Merlin, a genie in a bottle, and a tempur-pedic bed
What are your plans for the future?
After finishing my program, I plan to continue my education in a Clinical Psychology PhD. program in the Buffalo area and eventually teach at a College along with opening a clinic specifically for refugees in Buffalo.
