Sara Dormandy and Kellie Grant presented at the Niagara Frontier Reading Council Spring Conference on Saturday, April 29. Dormandy and Grant presented poster presentations on the topic of Science, Technology and Engineering & Math (STEM). The focus of their presentations was the integration of children’s books to engage and enhance the STEM learning experience for children in grades 1-6. Ms. Dormanday and Ms. Grant are graduate students in the Elementary Education program. They presented under the guidance of Mary Beth Scumaci, Clinical Associate Professor for the Division of Education. Scumaci said “Sara and Kellie did an impressive job presenting and were well received by the community of educators that included teachers, literacy coaches, librarians, principals and members of the community.” The keynote speaker for the event was internationally known literacy expert and author, Lester L. Laminack.
