This September, our Mavericks women’s soccer team came together to raise over $2,000 for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, with volunteer support from the women’s lacrosse team. The teams used a soccer game gathering to raise funds and awareness in recognition of September being Blood Cancer Awareness Month and in memory of Women’s Soccer Head Coach Angela Nicholas-Tolsma’s father, who passed away from multiple myeloma earlier this year. They sold “play for a cure” silicone wristbands, had a 50/50 raffle and accepted donations from game attendees.
